Verrus Achieves PCI Level 1 Accreditation

Verrus, the mobile phone payment provider, has recently achieved level 1 accreditation under the PCI DSS regulations which lay down the standards for the handling and storage of credit and debit card data with Visa and Mastercard.

The level 1 accreditation has been awarded to Verrus Inc based in Vancouver, Canada who  store and process cardholder data on the behalf of Verrus UK Ltd.  Verrus Inc is one of three contractors that are involved in the processing, transmission and storage of card details for Verrus UK Ltd. The other two,Credit Call and Comms XL are also accredited as PCI level 1 suppliers.

Commenting on the accreditation award, Robin Bevan, CEO for Verrus UK said "The achievement of the PCI level 1 accreditation by our Canadian colleagues is the culmination of a lot of hard work on their part during the second half of last year. We recognise that security of card data is a major concern for our clients and whilst Verrus has had no issue with fraudulent activity in over 6 million transactions, level 1 compliance will provide that added comfort to existing and future clients. Proving to motorists that their card details are secure will drive take up levels and hopefully means that phone payment can become the preferred method of payment for British motorists.”

Verrus UK Ltd is now handling just under £6m worth of transactions per month and has recently added to its tally of local authority contracts with the provision of mobile phone payment services for the London Boroughs of Islington and Enfield.
