Meters for Trees is PayByPhone’s initiative to swap parking hardware for trees.
At PayByPhone, we believe in making parking effortless while giving back to the planet. With our Meters for Trees initiative, we’re swapping traditional parking hardware for a more sustainable, mobile app-based parking experience. We’re committed to supporting the global push to restore natural landscapes affected by deforestation and spread the message about the urgency of protecting our environment.
Since launching in the UK in 2019 and North America in 2024, Meters for Trees has helped forward-thinking cities and parking operators go green by replacing parking meters with our simple, app-based solution. For every 10 single space parking meters replaced we will plant 1 tree, and for every multi-space pay station we will plant 1 tree in the operator’s name—creating a lasting impact for generations to come.

How it works
For the removal of parking hardware, we will plant trees in the name of participating parking operators.
